Taylor sends Forester baseball team to third straight loss

The Huntington University baseball team suffered a 9-1 loss to Taylor University on Wednesday, April 18, at Forest Glen Park.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Foresters watched the Trojans seize the lead with four runs in the third. The visitors then scored four more runs in the seventh before tacking on an insurance tally in the ninth.

Junior Matt Kunce plated the lone run for the Huntington offense, which finished with 10 hits. Senior Jamar Weaver and juniors Adam Roser and Jake Hansen each produced a pair of base pokes.

Connor West took the loss for the Foresters on the mound. The junior, 4-3, yielded a hit and two earned runs in the first 2.1 innings.

With the defeat, Huntington slips to 13-16, 11-4 in Crossroads League play.

Taylor, 32-10, 12-5 in league action, was led at the plate by Andrew Kennedy, who registered three hits and two runs batted in.

Pitcher Kole Barkhaus earned the win for the Trojans, yielding just four hits in 5.1 frames of scoreless relief.
