Gray, Bennett, Daugherty lead big Viking diamond win

Jarrett Gray, Levi Bennett and Zach Daugherty combined for 10 hits as the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team clubbed visiting Warsaw, 15-6, on Thursday, April 12.

Gray banged out four safeties, including a double, and had two runs batted in to help HNHS improve to 5-1 on the season. Bennett and Daugherty each had three hits, including a triple apiece, and knocked in one and two runs, respectively, on the day.

The Vikings put up a three spot in the first and third innings on the way to a 6-2 lead, then dumped five runs on the Tigers in the fourth inning, three more in the fifth and a final run in the sixth.

Elliott Lesperance got the win with four inches of four hit ball, allowing one earned run with a strikeout and a walk. Ian Broderick pitched the final three innings, yielding four earned runs on five hits, with four strikeouts and two walks.

Ian McCutcheon added two hits and two ribbies to the Viking attack and Keegan Bartrom added three RBI.

The Vikings banged out 13 hits on the day against six Warsaw pitchers.
