Lady Vike netgirls dominate Southwood

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team dominated host Southwood, winning 5-0 on Wednesday, April 11.

In singles play, junior Jessica Henline posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Drue Gentry in the No. 1 match. In the second tilt, senior Kassidy Thompson dispatched Lorynn Hunt, 6-1, 6-2, while senior Tarah Zumbrun topped Allison Steele in the third contest, 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles action saw the Lady Vikings’ top duo of junior Macy Wohlford and junior Jule Nogaj drop Emily Gwillim and Kyrstin Gouveia by a tally of 6-3, 6-1. Huntington North’s second twosome of senior Braxtyn Maroney and senior Leann Ringenberg rounded out the team’s wins with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Courtney Andrick and Haleigh Snyder.

With the win, the Lady Vikings improve to 2-0 on the season.

Huntington North’s junior varsity squad also improves to 2-0 after besting Southwood by a score of 9-2.

Solo winners for the Lady Vikings were Katie Paolillo, Maisy Kesler and Emma Bickel. In doubles play, Huntington North got victories from Emily Daas and Emily Bokel; Crosley Stanley and Sydney Smekens; Mary Young and Lindsey Hunt; Gabi Haneline and Julia Crist; Chloe Hart and Haileigh Nissley; and Kadi El-Hussein and Mandi Lippe.
