Worl spotless as HU netmen romp past Prairie State

Brody Worl didn’t surrender a game in either singles or doubles as he led the Huntington University men’s tennis team to an 8-1 romp over Prairie State College on Saturday, April 6, at Wildwood Tennis Club.

Worl and Luke Buttermore blanked Zachariah Perez and Charles Granston, 8-0, at third doubles, then Worl went 6-0, 6-0 against Granston at sixth singles to help HU improve to 11-4-1 on the season overall.

Ignacio Poncio and Giovanni Echevarria were also double-winners for HU, snapping up both singles and doubles triumphs. The pair teamed up to win first doubles over Jofre Tura and James Kirkham, 8-6, while Poncio then took first singles over Tura, 6-7, 6-4, (10-8) and Echevarria stopped Natnael Fekadu at fourth singles, 6-4, 7-5.

Rodrigo Manzo at second singles topped Anthony Kendall, 6-3, 6-4; Giovanni Martinez at third singles defeated Kirkham, 6-1, 6-1; and Buttermore at fifth singles rolled past Perez, 6-1, 6-1.

The lone loss for HU came at second doubles, where Manzo and Martinez lost, 6-8, to Fekadu and Kendall.
