HU women open spring season with loss

Competing a player down, the Huntington University women’s tennis team came up on the short end of a 3-6 decision to Purdue Northwest on Saturday, April 7, at Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club.

The match was the Foresters’ first of the spring and was just their fourth loss of the year against 14 wins.

The Foresters won three of the five singles matches played, with Anastasiia Evstifeeva at fourth singles leading the way with  a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cynthia Basu-Chavez. At second singles, Meg Dolde took down Brooke Foltz, 6-2, 6-2, and at third Lisa Colling rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Pia Schmedding.

At first singles Constance Golz lost to Lena van Bergen, 6-1, 6-7, 5-10, and at fifth singles Charlotte Seth fell 0-6, 1-6 to Abby Kvachkoff.

HU had forfeits at sixth singles and third doubles.

Golz and Dolde lost at first doubles, 4-8, to Foltz and van Bergen. Colling and Evstifeeva lost at second, 4-8, to Schnedding and Carolina Yepez.
