Davit's bat leads HU to rout of Marian

Led by Nick Davit, the Huntington University baseball team routed host Marian University, 8-1, on Thursday, April 5.

Davit, a freshman, logged two hits, one of which was a three-run home run. The designated hitter finished with four runs batted in for the Foresters, who improve to 9-12, 7-0 in Crossroads League play.

Davit’s blast came in the top of the fourth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie. The Foresters added two more runs in the fifth before tacking on insurance tallies in the sixth and seventh to cap the lopsided affair.

Huntington finished with eight hits. Supplementing Davit and his big day at the plate was freshman Daniel Lichty, who registered two hits and as many RBI, and junior Adrian Perez, who plated a runner. Sophomore Donovan Clark scored a game-best three runs and also swiped a pair of bases.

DJ Moore picked up the win on the mound for the Foresters. The junior, 2-3, pitched the first five innings, limiting Marian to three hits and their lone run, which was unearned. He also racked up six strikeouts and issued four walks. Senior Colton Punches tossed the final four frames, yielding just two hits and fanning four.
