HU netmen dominate Defiance

The Huntington University men’s tennis team dominated host Defiance College, winning 7-2 on Wednesday, April 4.

In singles play, Luke Buttermore triumphed over Adam Swisher in the first match, 6-0, 7-5. Giovanni Martinez logged a 6-3, 6-2 victory versus Jared Schnee in the second contest. Brody Worl dispatched Eline Widman in the third tilt, 6-3, 6-2. Vova Kohut, at fourth singles, beat Nathan Principe by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Mark Lewandowski rounded out the Foresters’ solo victories with a 6-3, 6-0 decision against Ring Lardner in match No. 5.

In doubles action, the No. 2 duo of Lewandowski and Kohut defeated Widman and Principe, 8-5, while the third Huntington twosome of Worl and Noah Tobias beat Henry Brown and Micaiah Cox, 8-3.

The Foresters’ losses on the day came at sixth singles, where Tobias got edged by Brown, 6-8, and at first doubles, with Buttermore and Martinez narrowly falling to Swisher and Schnee, 6-8.

The easy win came despite the fact the Foresters were without regulars Ignacio Poncio, Rodrigo Manzo and Marian Echevarria.
