Bolinger leads Vike trackboys at Trine HSR Qualifier

Carson Bolinger was the top performer for the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity track team at the Trine Hoosier State Relays Qualifier, held Saturday, March 10, at Trine University, in Angola.

Bolinger posted the Vikings’ lone win at the meet, capturing first place in the 60-meter hurdles. The senior clocked in at :9.03. Teammate Logan Hippensteel took sixth in the race, crossing the finish line in :9.70.

Bolinger also helped Huntington North earn runner-up honors in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay. Running with Brock Spahr, Kasey Konz and Jacob Wust, the quartet stopped the timer in 11:13.43.

Individually, Bolinger also logged a fourth-place finish in high jump, leaping 6-0.

Damon Kaylor claimed fourth place in shot put for the Vikes. The senior tossed the gray ball 44-10.25.

Huntington North’s 3,200-meter relay team took seventh place. The foursome, consisting of Nathan Sizemore, Alex Bishop, JJ Whicker and Isaiah Clampitt, posted a time of 9:07.86.

The 1,600-meter relay saw Coach Scott Bower’s squad finish ninth in 3:53.65. Nolan Hughes, Nate Burns, Logan Hippensteel and Conner Miller competed in that race for the Vikes.

Huntington North’s top-10 finishes were rounded out by Wust and Nolan Young in the 3,200-meter run. Wust clocked in at 10:19.51 for eight place while Young crossed the end stripe in 10:29.23 for 10th.

No team scores were kept at the meet.
