Lady Vike gymnasts top Wayne and South Side

The Huntington North High School varsity gymnastics team totaled a score of 104.375 to defeat host Wayne, 93.600, and South Side, 24.450, on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

The Lady Vikings were led by Danielle Korporal, who posted a top-three finish in all four events. The senior captured first place on the balance beam, logging a score of 9.425. She earned runner-up honors on the uneven bars, producing an 8.450, and took third on vault and in the floor exercise, tallying an 8.850 in both events.

Korporal’s efforts earned her second place in the all-around with a grand total of 35.575.

Brianna Bates was a two-time runner-up for Huntington North. The senior secured second on vault with an 8.875 and the same placement on beam with a 9.100.

Other Lady Vikings to post top-three finishes were Aleah Eckert and Laora Pampaloni. Eckert earned second on floor with an 8.875 while Pampaloni took third on the bars with an 8.225.
