Trio leads Lady Vike hoopsters over Canterbury

Three players scored in double figures to lead the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team over visiting Canterbury, 68-53, on Thursday, Jan. 11.

Senior Rileigh Johnson led the way for the Lady Vikings with 16 points. Junior Maddy Robrock added 15 points while senior Karmen Koch supplied 14.

Robrock made her presence felt on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds. Koch helped facilitate the offense with five assists.

Huntington North, 10-7, hit 23 of 48 shots from the field for 47.9 percent and 16 of 18 attempts at the foul line for 88.9 percent.

Canterbury was paced by Alaina Rongos, who totaled 22 points, and Grace Sullivan, who amassed 14.

The Lady Cavaliers, 4-11, converted 23 of 52 field goal attempts for 44.2 percent. The visitors shot themselves into a hole from three-point land, where they made only 3 of 19 tries. At the charity stripe, Canterbury shot 4 of 6 for 66.6 percent.

Huntington North also won the junior varsity tilt, 42-13.

The Lady Vikings, 11-6, were led by freshman Katelynn Arnold and sophomore Ashlynn Foster, who scored 10 and 7 points, respectively.
