Oak Hill dominates HNHS swimgirls

Two individual wins and a relay victory highlighted the evening for the Huntington North High School girls swim team as it lost to host Oak Hill, 124-59, on Monday, Jan. 8.

Sophomores Laney Shaw and Allie Aschliman got the individual wins and each also swam on the victorious 200-yard medley relay team.

Shaw won the 50-yard freestyle in :28.48, with teammate Morgan Cogar placing third in the event, in :32.23, for the best HNHS showing of the night.

Aschliman got her win in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:06.22 to edge out Oak Hill’s Morgan Wallace by .31 seconds.

Fellow sophomore Alayna Stroup and junior Macy Lange joined Shaw and Aschliman to win the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 2:11.43.

Aschliman added a second place finish to her night’s work and Shaw added a third place finish to her night. Aschliman was runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:14.66, and Shaw was third in the 500-yard freestyle, in 6:40.72.

Lange had a pair of runner-up finishes for the Lady Vikes, doing so in the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. She touched home in 1:01.62 in the free and clocked in at 1:21.37 in the breaststroke.

Stroup and Alyssa Brinkman went 2-3, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:15.39 and 1:16.12.
