Aschliman, Lange lead HNHS swimgirls to big win over Canterbury

Allie Aschliman and Macy Lange both won two individual events and swam on two winning relay teams to lead the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team to a 112-55 thumping of host Canterbury on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Aschliman and Lange teamed with Alyssa Brinkman and Laney Shaw to win the 200-yard medley relay in the first event, in 2:10.59, and the Lady Vikings were never headed.

Aschliman, a sophomore, was tops in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:21.81. and the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:07.29. Lange, a junior, was number one in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:36.26, and the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:22.51.

Lange’s win in the breast led HNHS to a top-three sweep as Adalyn Harvey took second and Anna Manry placed third, in 1:33.68 and 1:34.98, respectively.

Brinkman, Shaw and Morgan Cogar also got wins for HNHS, 1-1 on the season. Brinkman took the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:17.69, Shaw took the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:02.97 and Cogar was tops in the 500-yard freestyle, in 6:52.20.

Lange, Alayna Stroup, Aschliman and Shaw teamed up for the 200 free relay win, in 1:57.74.

Shaw added second place points for HNHS in the 200 IM, in 2:41.65, and Stroup and Cogar went 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle, in :30.44 and :32.37, respectively. Stroup was third in the 100 fly, in 1:18.99, Manry was third in the 100 free, in 1:11.78, Brinkman was runner-up in the 500 free, in 7:07.35 and Bekah Bruner was third in the 100 back, in 1:29.58.
