Vikings land 3 on first team for NE8 soccer

A trio of players from the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity soccer team received first-team recognition in the Northeast 8 Conference.

Seniors Sam Poling, Caleb Smith and Andrew Kaylor earned the first-team honors for the Vikings.

Poling, the team’s starting goalkeeper, posted an 11-4-1 record in front of the net, notching four shutouts. He racked up 89 saves while permitting only 22 goals.

Smith led the Huntington North offense. The midfielder scored a team-high 18 goals. He also dispensed four assists.

Kaylor, a defender, highlighted the Vikings’ defensive effort on the season.

Seniors Carson Bolinger, Jacob Foster and Kasey Konz and sophomore Peyton Miller were named to the conference’s second team.

Miller and Konz, both forwards, were key cogs in the Huntington North offense, scoring nine goals apiece. Miller also distributed a team-best seven assists. Foster, a midfielder, tallied five goals.

Bolinger was a standout on the team’s defense.

Freshman Alex Gass rounded out the Vikings’ honorees with an honorable mention nod. The forward produced six goals.

Huntington North finished 13-4-1, with a 6-1 mark in conference play. The Vikings shared the conference title with Bellmont.
