Knispel, Spear lead HU soccerwomen past USF

Matea Knispel and Brandi Spear continued their goal-scoring spree to lead the Huntington University women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over the University of Saint Francis at King Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The pair, who have scored 11 goals in the last three games, each scored in the first half to give HU, 6-4-1 overall, a lead it would not relinquish.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Coolman only had to make a save in each half to make sure the lead held up, and she did so for her third shutout of the year.

The victory was the Foresters’ third consecutive.

Knispel, a junior, now has 12 goals on the season while Spear, a senior, has nine. The pair has scored 21 of their team’s 25 goals.

The Foresters have yielded just 12 goals through 11 matches this season.
