HU women netters easily dispose of Grace

The third-seeded Huntington University women’s tennis team lived up to its billing as it disposed of sixth-seed Grace College, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 3, at Klopfenstein Courts at the Crossroads Lague Tennis Tournament.

Improving to 13-2 on the season, the Foresters dropped one singles match and one doubles match to move into the semifinals on Thursday at Marian.

The Foresters seized the lead at 2-1 after doubles play. The second doubles team of Lanae Singleton and  Lisa Colling downed Jenna Jackson and Molly Fitzpatrick, 8-1, and the No. 3 team of Anastasiia Evstifeeva and Charlotte Seth stopped Shelby Bankson and Briana Diehl, 8-4.

Second singles player Meg Dolde defeated Carrie Copeland, 6-1, 6-1; and Singleton at third singles defeated Jackson, 6-1, 6-3. Set at fourth singles topped Fitzpatrick, 6-3, 6-1; Colling at fifth singles dispatched Bankson, 6-1, 6-2; and Evstifeeva at No. 6 ran past Diehl, 6-1, 6-0.
