HU netwomen whitewashing Bethel

The Huntington University women’s tennis team dominated host Bethel College, posting a 9-0 win on Saturday, Sept. 23.

With the sweep, the Foresters’ sixth of the season, they improve to 8-2, 5-2 in Crossroads League play.

In singles action, junior Anastasiia Evstifeeva blanked Megan Reed, 6-0, 6-0, in the sixth match. Freshmen Lanae Singleton and Lisa Colling dropped just a game apiece in their contests at third and fifth singles, respectively. Singleton bested Grace Haley, 6-1, 6-0, while Colling dispatched Stephanie Cressman, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Charlotte Seth posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Chase Kieper in the No. 4 match. Senior Constanze Golz beat Taylor Freedline in the first tilt, 6-1, 6-4, while sophomore Meg Dolde rounded out Huntington’s solo wins with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Caroline Boger in the second match.

Doubles play saw the No. 2 team of Singleton and Colling blank Haley and Abbey VanDiver, 8-0. Evstifeeva and Seth were 8-2 winners over Kieper and Cressman in the third contest while Golz and Dolde posted an 8-5 victory versus Freedline and Boger in the first tilt.
