Versatile Stephan leads Lady Vike spikers past Homestead

Kaitlyn Stephan made a difference on both offense and defense as the Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team nipped visiting Homestead in five sets, 3-2, on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Stephan, a senior, racked up 42 assists and 22 digs on the evening as the Lady Vikings won, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-12.

The Lady Vikings, 14-7, got 19 kills  and five blocks from sophomore Macy Niswander in the comeback victory. Maddy Robrock was also a force at the net with another five kills.

Kalee Platt added three aces to the action.

The Lady Vikings’ junior varsity won 2-0 on scores of 25-17, 25-15.

Lauren Trickle had five kills and three blocks for HNHS, and Morgan Robrock added 10 assists and three aces. Maddi Laymon had five kills and Syanna Bonewitz had four digs.

The frosh Lady Vikes also had a 2-0 win, 25-23, 25-15.

Mia Garner had five kills and Alexa Spahr had four assists to lead the HNHS offense. Victoria Myers added four aces.

On the defensive side, Myers had 10 digs and Stephanie Atkinson and Mia Garner each had three blocks.
