The Huntington University men’s tennis team swept visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene University, 9-0, on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Foresters, 4-2, 3-1 in Crossroads League play, blanked the Cougars in four out of the six matches in singles play. Logging those 6-0, 6-0 wins were Mariano Echevarria in the third match versus Kevin Maurer; Luke Buttermore in the fourth tilt against Vince LoPrinzi; Brody Worl in the No. 5 spot versus Eric Miller; and Mark Lewandowski in the sixth contest against Neill Vilt.

The second solo tilt saw Giovanni Martinez dispatch Logan Gauthier, 6-1, 6-0, while the first saw Ignacio Poncio upend Danny Mayotte, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles action, the duo of Buttermore and Shelton blanked Mauer and LoPrinzi in the second match, 8-0, while the pairing of Martinez and Volodymyr Kohut trounced Miller and Vilt, 8-0, in the third contest. An 8-4 victory by Poncio and Echevarria over Mayotte and Gauthier in No. 1 spot rounded out Huntington’s domination.
