Lady Vike golfgirls second at conference meet

A trio of top 10 performances propelled the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity golf team to second place at the Northeast 8 Conference Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Cobblestone Golf Course, in Kendallville.

Junior Laura Ham placed fifth with an 85 while junior Amara Eckert took seventh with an 89 and senior Jaclyn Boyd claimed 10th with a 94 for the Lady Vikings. Ham’s performance earned her first-team all-conference honors. Eckert received a second-team nod while Boyd was an honorable mention designee.

Junior Crosley Stanley shot a 99 to cap Huntington North’s score at 367.

Senior Sarah Malone carded a non-scoring 114.

Led by medalist Lexy Stuckey, who fired a 78, DeKalb won the tournament with a score of 340. After Huntington North, Bellmont took third with a 382, followed by Leo, 392; Columbia City, 412; East Noble, 421; Norwell, 446; and New Haven, which did not receive a score.
