Eckert's best helps Lady Vike golfers to third at EN Invitational

A personal-best outing by Amara Eckert helped propel the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity golf team to a third-place finish at the East Noble Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Noble Hawk Golf Links, in Kendallville.

Eckert, a junior, scored an 80 to tie for first place at the invite. She and DeKalb’s top player entered a playoff to settle the stalemate, shooting even for two holes before the Lady Baron got the better of her on the third to capture medalist honors.

Junior Laura Ham finished second for the Lady Vikings, registering a 92. Senior Jaclyn Boyd carded a 97 while junior Danielle Gonser fired a personal-best 102, capping the team’s score at 371.

Junior Crosley Stanley posted a non-scoring 103.

NorthWood and DeKalb logged matching scores of 341, initiating a rare team playoff that saw the Lady Panthers come out on top to claim the invitational title.
