Huntington North rally falls short against Carroll

The Huntington North High School baseball team almost came back from a 6-0 deficit but in the end fell 6-5 to visiting Carroll on Monday, May 15.

Carroll pushed across a pair of runs in the first, second and fourth innings to take its 6-0 advantage, but the Vikings, 14-7, rallied for four runs in the fourth and another in the sixth before Carroll slammed the door shut in the seventh for its 20th win of the season in 23 games.

Ian McCutcheon and C.J. Landrum each had two hits and Landrum notched three runs batted in to lead the Vikings nine-hit offense.

The Chargers got to Viking ace Pat Miller four five earned runs on four hits, with one strikeout and four walks, in 3.1 innings. Ethan Froehlke gave up the sixth run on three hits, with five strikeouts and three walks, in 2.2 innings. Sam Daugherty pitched a scoreless seventh for HNHS, with two strikeouts.
