Lady Vike netgirls edge South Adams

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team edged visiting South Adams, 3-2, on Friday, May 12.

The key match for the Lady Vikings came at second singles, where senior Katie Hunt came back to beat Haley Gerber. After losing the opening set, 3-6, Hunt rallied with a 6-4 victory in the following frame and a 10-5 tiebreak triumph to win the match.

Huntington North, 7-10, swept singles play. Sophomore Jessica Henline lost only one set in the No. 1 match to Virginia Lagos, triumphing 6-1, 6-0, while junior Tarah Zumbrun topped Hannah Dull in the No. 3 tilt, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Lady Vikes’ first duo of junior Kassidy Thompson and sophomore Macy Wohlford fell to Caralie Farlow and Julia Grabau, 3-6, 3-6. Second doubles saw the No. 2 pair of senior Alyssa Hewson and junior Anna Schroeder get dispatched by Sydney Pierce and Reanna Potts, 4-6, 2-6.

In junior varsity action, Huntington North and South Adams tied, 5-5.
