HU trackmen short in effort to qualify for nationals

Members of the Huntington University men’s track team came up short in their efforts to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Nationals while competing at the Hillsdale College Classic on Thursday, May 11.

Avniel Barrow posted the team’s best finish on the day, winning the 100-meter dash in :10.89, which was a personal record and earns him the No. 4 spot in the Huntington record book.

Brooks Gerke also put forth a personal-best effort, leaping 14-05.50 in pole vault. The showing earned him sixth place at the meet and bumped him up from sixth to fifth in the school’s record book.

Also competing for the Foresters was Bradey Gerke and Adam Woods. Gerke took fifth in long jump with a leap of 19-02.50 and seventh in triple jump with an effort of 41-00.25. Woods claimed fourth in javelin with a toss of 158-11.
