Vikings coast past Knights on diamond

The Huntington North High School baseball team jumped out to a 7-0 lead early and coasted to a 9-5 win over visiting Norwell on Thursday, May 11.

The Vikings, 14-6, scored a solo tally in the first inning and then put up matching three-spots in the second and third frames. HNHS led 9-1 by the time Norwell put up four runs in the seventh against two Viking relievers.

HNHS starter Pat Miller threw one-run ball for the first six innings, yielding eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Vikings punched out 16 hits on the day, with Jarret Gray collecting three and Collin Landrum, Cody Barton, Miller, Logan Moreland and Levi Bennett each having two. Barton led the RBI parade with a pair.
