Norwell stops HNHS netgirls

Victory at No. 1 doubles was the highlight of the day for the Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team in a 1-4 loss to visiting Norwell on Thursday, May 11.

Sophomore Macy Wohlford and junior Kassidy Thompson took down Caitlynn Griggs and Madison Oakes, 6-2, 6-4 for the lone HNHS victory as the Lady Vikes fell to 6-10 on the season.

Two of the Lady Vikes' losses were in three sets. At third singles, Tarah Zumbrun fell to Cierra Middleton, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6, and at second doubles Anna Schroeder and Alyssa Hewson lost to Abby Hoover and Sadie Mann, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6.

Jessica Henline at first singles was beaten by Breann Barger, 3-6, 2-6, and Katie Hunt at second singles fell to Molly Burton, 0-6, 6-7.

The HNHS junior varsity won, 6-4, to improve its record to 10-3-2.

Winners for HNHS were the doubles teams of Olivia Bowman and Anna Doctor, Braxtyn Maroney and Crosley Stanley, Mary Young and Katie Jamison, Emily Daas and Emily Bokel, Katie Paolillo and Haley Burnau and Gabi Haneline and Sydney Smekens.
