Lady Vike netgirls fall to Homestead

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team fell to host Homestead, 2-3, on Wednesday, May 10.

The Lady Vikings triumphed at first and second singles, but were stymied by the Lady Spartans in the remaining matches to fall to 6-9.

Senior Katie Hunt posted a 6-0, 6-3 win over Lumyah Habib in the second solo match for Huntington North while sophomore Jessica Henline dispatched Natalie Steingass, 6-3, 6-3, in the first tilt.

A 1-6, 0-6 loss to Lauren Peters by junior Tarah Zumbrun rounded out singles play for the Lady Vikes.

In doubles action, Huntington North’s No. 1 duo of junior Kassidy Thompson and sophomore Macy Wohlford lost to Maddy Heiney and Payton Krahn, 1-6, 2-6, while its second twosome of senior Alyssa Hewson and junior Anna Schroeder suffered a 2-6, 4-6 setback to Delaney Lewis and Pravi Jain.

The Lady Vikings’ junior varsity squad won narrowly, 6-5.

The team, 9-3-2, was victorious in one singles and five doubles matches.

HNHS winners were Emily Daas in singles and the teams of  Olivia Bowman and Leann Ringenberg, Anna Doctory and Crosley Stanley, Mary Young and Katie Jamsin, Daphnee Landrum and Masisy Kesler and Katie Paolillo and Haley Burnau.
