DeKalb runs past HNHS diamond boys

Host DeKalb rang up five runs in the opening frame and cruised to a 10-0 win over the Huntington North High School baseball team on Monday, May 8.

The Barons, 11-7, scored four more runs in the fourth inning and added the mercy rule clincher in the fifth while pitcher Andrew Novak was limiting HNHS to just one hit.

The Vikings are 11-6 on the season.

Sam Daugherty only recorded one out in the first frame as DeKalb slashed five hits and got a walk for their big opening inning. Ethan Froehlke pitched three innings and gave up four runs on three hits, with two strikeouts and four walks, and Mason Landrum went the final two-thirds of an inning, yielding one run on three hits, with a walk.

Novak had three strikeouts and didn't walk a batter for DeKalb.

Jarret Gray had the lone HNHS hit.
