Bishop Dwenger shades HNHS netgirls

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team dropped a tough one to visiting Bishop Dwenger, 2-3, on Thursday, April 20.

The Lady Vikings, 3-3, got a three-set win from Tarah Zumbrun at third singles and a straight set win from the first doubles team of Macy Wohlford and Kassidy Thompson, but the closest they could come after that was three-set loss at third doubles. Anna Schroeder and Alyssa Hewson enjoyed a 6-1 win in their first set of their match against Samantha Rehloff and Savanna Henry, but dropped the next two, 4-6, 1-6.

Zumbrun topped Iden Carrism-Kitch, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, and Wohlford and Thompson topped Abby Schreck and Megan Lopez, 6-0, 7-5.

Jessica Henline at first singles and Katie Hunt at second singles were both two-set victims. Henline fell to Abby Oswald, 3-6, 3-6, and Hunt was done in by Cassidy Klinker, 0-6, 4-6.

The Lady Vikes' junior varsity took four of five matches to improve to 5-1 on the season. Leann Ringenberg won in singles and the duos of Olivia Bowman and Braxtyn Maroney, Anna Doctor and Katie Jamison and Haley Burnau and Katie Paolillo won in doubles.
