Coolman golden twice but EN nips Vike trackboys

A pair of wins by senior Jared Coolman in the throwing events wasn't quite enough for the Huntington North High School boys' track team as it was edged by host East Noble, 58.5-57.5 in a three-way meet with Bellmont on Tuesday, April 18.

Bellmont finished third with 51 points.

Coolman earned two of the five HNHS wins on the day, taking the shot put with a heave of 47-10.75 and the discus with a heave of 135-9.

Alex Wiedenhoeft won the 1,600-meter run in 4:58.36 and Caleb Smith was the high jump winner at 5-8. The Vikings also captured the 3,200-meter relay, in 8:53.36.

Wiedenhoeft led HNHS to its best finish on the day as teammate Garret Smith was next across the finish line in the 1,600, doing so in 5:03.73.

Damon Kaylor took third to Coolman in both weight events. He threw the shot 39-6.5 and tossed the discus 117-1.

On the track, Elijah Chesterman, Brock Spahr, Carson Bolinger and the 400-meter relay team earned second place points for HNHS. Chesterman finished in :23.89 in the 200-meter dash, Sparh clocked in at 2:08.57 in the 800-meter run, Bolinger went :17.09 in the 110-meter hurdles and the relay quartet went :46.27.

Third place points were earned by Felix Benkel in the 100-meterĀ  dash, in :12.25, Aaron Hendryx in the 800, in 2:13.09, Mark Hultz in the 110 hurdles, :17.51; Hultz in the 300-meter hurdles, :44.8; and Bolinger in the high jump, 5-6.
