Foresters put wood to Bethel, 21-5
Tuesday, April 18, 2017 9:19 AM
Dalton Combs led off the game with a home run and Andy Roser hit a grand slam minutes later as the Huntington University baseball team blasted host Bethel College, 21-5, on Monday, April 17.
The Foresters, 23-8, then exploded for 10 more runs on seven hits -- including a Michael Crowley three-run dinger, in the second inning for a 15-0 lead, finally ending the game after seven innings due to the mercy rule.
Combs finished with five hits on the afternoon as HU rang up 25 on the Pilots, 17-15 overall, with 13 different Foresters collecting a safety. Combs knocked in three runs and scored four.
Roser's big dinger was his first slam in the collegiate ranks. He also had an RBI-double later in the contest.
HU had 21 RBI in the contest.
The big lumber made it easy for HU starter Connor West, who tossed the first five innings, giving up just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out four.
