Season-best earns HU golfers 2nd at own invite

A season-best score of 598 earned the Huntington University men's golf team second place among five teams at its own Forester spring Invitational on Thursday and Friday, April 13 and 14.

Led by co-medalist Luis Esteban, the Foresters fired a 300 on Thursday and then followed that up with a 298 on Friday to finish 24 strokes behind champion University of Saint Francis, which fired a 574, but two strokes ahead of third place Mount Vernon Nazarene University, which recorded a 600. Notre Dame College had a 622 and St. Mary of the Woods recorded a 652 at Brookwood Golf Club to complete the scoring.

Esteban fired a 73 and 69 to post a 142 and grab a share of the individual honors.

Cale Carr took eighth by carding a 148, Zak Cummings shot a 153 and Chandler Rang notched a 155 to complete the HU scoring. Zach Borntreger shot a 157 as non-scorer and Otto Bjartmarz turned in a 161 competing as an individual.
