HU netmen suffer first loss of spring season

The Huntington University men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the spring season on Saturday, March 11, falling 2-7 to host Alma College.

Second singles player Jacob Shelton and third singles player Brody Worl got the wins for Coach Kreg Eckert's squad, 2-1 in spring action and 9-7 overall. Shelton defeated Luke Van Fleet, 6-7. 6-4, 1-0, while Worl straight-setted Jonathon Groening, 6-4, 6-2.

At first singles, Luke Buttermore fell to Grant Hill, 1-6, 1-6; fourth singles player Volodymyr Kohut lost to Evan Vergith, 3-6, 4-6; fifth singles player Joshua Deutsch lost to Noah Ackerman, 2-6, 0-6; and sixth singles player Mark Lewandowski was beaten by Brett Reuter, 3-6, 3-6.

In doubles, Buttermore and Shelton at No. 1 lost to Arthur and Van Fleet, 3-8; Kohut and Deutsch lost to Hill and Ackerman at second, 5-8; and Worl and Lewandowski lost to Vergith and Fox at No. 3, 1-8.
