Coolman leads trackboys at New Haven Invite

A podium finish by Jared Coolman was the highlight of the day for the Huntington North High School boys’ track and field team at the indoor New Haven Invitational, held at IPFW on Saturday, March 4.

Coolman captured third place in shot put. The senior heaved the gray ball 47-6.

The 4,000-meter distance medley relay team took sixth place in 11:38.39. The 1,200, 400, 800 and 1,600 portions were run by Jacob Wust, Elijah Chesterman, Cody Jones and Aaron Hendryx, respectively.

Brock Spahr and Caleb Smith both posted eighth-place finishes for the Vikings. Spahr earned his in the 3,200-meter run, crossing the finish line in 10:02.17, while Smith achieved his in high jump, leaping 5-8.

Huntington North tied for 14th place at the meet, which was topped by Carroll.
