HU netmen sweep past Calumet, 9-0

The Huntington University men’s tennis team dominated host Calumet College of St. Joseph, 9-0, on Saturday, March 4.

After sweeping doubles play, the Foresters won every singles match in straight sets to record their second win in as many matches this spring.

In the first doubles match, Rodrigo Manzo and Giovanni Martinez dispatched Santiago Castaneda and Nillson Cano, 9-8. The second tilt saw Lucas Buttermore and Mariano Echevarria best Erwin Krackow and Andres Farfan, 8-1, while the third contest featured an 8-0 blanking by Volodymyr Kohut and Joshua Deutsch over David Espinoza and Ishup Singh.

In singles play, Manzo won 6-3, 6-2, over Castaneda in the No. 1 match. Martinez defeated Cano in the second tilt, 6-2, 6-2. The third contest saw Buttermore post a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Krackow. Echevarria triumphed over Farfan in match No. 4, 6-2, 6-0. Brody Worl recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win versus Espinoza in the fifth match while Kohut defeated Singh in the sixth contest, 6-1, 6-4, to round out the Foresters’ domination.
