HU trackmen second at Defiance invite

The Huntington University men's track team placed second at the Defiance College Dick Small Invitational on Friday, Feb. 10.
The 800-meter relay team of Michael Bowman, Nick Childs, CJ Robertson and Elston Jones got the lone HU win at the meet, crossing the tape in 1:38.65.
Avniel Barrow led the rest of the HU contingent with a pair of top five individual finishes. The native of the Bahamas took a second in the 60-meter dash, in :07.16, and was fifth in the 200-meter dash, in :23.82. Both times were personal marks.
Bardey Gerke and Kendall Adams went 3-4, respectively, in the 400-meter dash, with Gerke clocking in at :54.69 and Adams finishing in :55.52.
Bowman took third in the 800-meter run, in 2:08.14, and Jones placed fifth, in 2:09.45 for another big HU point-getter.
Codi Wiersema added runner-up points in the 3,000-meter run, in 9:26.09, and the 1600-meter relay team of Brooks Gerke, Bowman, Jones and Childs was also runner-up, in 3:44.65.
The Foresters tallied 66 points, 15 behind champion Manchester. Saint Francis was third with 63 points, Olivet was fourth with 59 points and Bluffton was fifth among the nine teams with 58 points.
