Balanced Vikings dispatch Wayne

With a balanced offensive effort, the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity basketball team dispatched Wayne, 60-44, on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Four players posted double-digit point totals for the Vikings, who picked up their 16th win against just five losses. Sophomore Zach Daugherty led the scoring with 16 points. Senior Hunter Hollowell tallied 15 points while seniors Chazz Bruce and Luke Pulver netted 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Bruce also corralled 10 rebounds to notch a double-double for Huntington North, which got edged on the boards, 28-25.

The Vikings led 12-9 after the first quarter, 27-18 by intermission and 49-27 at the close of three frames.

Huntington North knocked down 20 of 40 shots from the field for 50 percent and 11 of 14 at the free throw line for 78.6 percent.

Wayne, 8-11, shot 36.4 percent from the field on 16 of 44 marksmanship. The Generals added seven points in 10 attempts at the charity stripe for 70 percent.

Darian Causey paced Wayne with 11 points.

Huntington North also won the junior varsity matchup, 55-45.

Sophomore Sawyer Stoltz went a perfect 7 of 7 from the field on the way to finishing with a game-high 18 points. Sophomore Hank Pulver produced 14 points while sophomore Trey Williams paired 13 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
