HU men fall to USF, 87-72

The Huntington University men’s basketball team fell to host University of Saint Francis, 87-72, on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
The Foresters trailed the No. 19 Cougars by just three points at halftime, 44-41, but their Crossroads League foes pulled away in the second half, outscoring them by 12.
Huntington, 15-12, 6-9 in league play, got 16 points apiece from senior Daniel Woll and junior Mike Bush, who also dished out nine assists. Junior Trevor Lockwood produced 12 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Mason Coverstone netted 10 points.
The Foresters connected on 27 of 53 field goal attempts for 50.9 percent and 12 of 16 free throw opportunities for 75 percent.
Bryce Lienhoop tallied 19 points for USF, 19-8, 9-6 in league action. He also corralled seven rebounds to help give the hosts a 36-24 advantage on the glass.
Connor Lautzenheiser chipped in 15 points to the Cougar cause, Kegan Comer contributed 13 and Perry Poindexter added 10.
USF shot 51.5 percent from the floor on 34 of 66 marksmanship. The Cougars added 10 points in 13 attempts at the charity stripe for 76.9 percent.
