Eagles 14U wins Bethelehem Lutheran tourney

The Huntington Eagles 14U homeschool boys' basketball team earned first place at the 12th annual Bethlehem Lutheran Eighth Grade Boys' Basketball Tournament hosted by Bethlehem Lutheran in Ossian on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 15-16.

The Eagles defeated Saint Peter Immanuel 44-31 on Saturday to win the champion title.

In that game, Brooks Hitzfield led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds. Clay Sickafoose had 10 points, five assists and five steals and Chris Lieffers had 10 points and eight rebounds.

To get to the final game, Huntington first defeated Concordia Lutheran 44-21 on Friday.
Sickafoose led the team with 10 points and five rebounds, Lieffers added 10 points, Brooks Hitzfield had eight points and five rebounds and Tyce Frank scored eight points.

The second round saw Saint Peter Immanuel fall to Huntington 29-22 on Saturday.

Ian Kissell had nine points, Sickafoose added seven, Hitzfield had seven points and seven rebounds and Lieffers scored six points and added seven rebounds.

In the third round, the Eagles beat Saint Aloysius 34-20.

Lieffers netted 13 points and six rebounds, Bruce Hitzfield had six points and Sickafoose added five points and managed six steals.
