Eagles win Cougar Classic

The Huntington Eagles homeschool basketball team swept the Cougar Classic tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29-30, at Lakeland Christian Academy in Winona Lake.

Eagle Jed Landis was the tournament most valuable player as he scored 89 points in the three games.

Huntington defeated Trinity and Lakeland to advance to the championship game against Noble/Whitley.

In the Eagles' final game against the Warriors, Huntington took a 14-8 lead by the end of the first quarter, which the Eagles did not give up the rest of the match to win 59-38. Huntington outscored Noble/Whitley in all but the third quarter.

Landis led the way for the Eagles with 29 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Caleb Featherston scored 16 points and had five rebounds and Matt Weaver had six points and six rebounds.

To get to the final match, the Eagles first defeated Trinity 69-41.

In that match, Landis dominated with 30 points and five steals. Featherston added 18 points, Weaver scored eight more points and had eight rebounds and four steals and Samuel Daniels had eight points and five rebounds.

Huntington moved on to defeat Lakeland Christian 53-47.

Landis again led the Eagles' scoring with 30 points, while also stealing the ball four times. Featherston had 11 points and five steals and Weaver had seven points and six rebounds.

Featherston made the all-tournament team.
