Eagles middle school boys' hoop teams fall to Fort Wayne Guard

Despite Chris Leiffers scoring 11 points and grabbed five rebounds, but the Huntington Eagles 14U basketball team fell to host Fort Wayne Guard 47-40 on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Huntington, 2-1, jumped to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but couldn't keep it together as Fort Wayne went 16-6 in the second quarter to take the game to 24-18 at halftime. The Guard outscored Huntington 10-9 in the third, and both teams canned 13 in the fourth.

In addition to Leiffers for Huntington, Clay Sickafoose had 10 points; Trey Frank added eight points, eight rebounds and five steals and Brooks Hitzfield had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Eagles' 12U basketball team also lost to Fort Wayne Guard Tuesday night, 46-22.

After a 7-4 score in Huntington's favor at the end of the first quarter, the Guard reclaimed the lead in the second quarter and outscored the Eagles for the rest of the match.

For Huntington, Bruce Hitzfield had 10 points and Ian Kissell and Tyce Frank each had five points.

The 12U Eagles are now 2-2 on the season.
