HNHS boys' swim team crushes South Side

Huntington North High School's boys' swim team won every event but diving to dominate visiting South Side 102-68 on Monday, Nov. 30.

Seniors Danny Scher, Chris Royer and Skyler Ruschhaupt each took first-place honors in two individ-ual events and were members of two winning relay teams to aid HNHS in the defeat of the Archers.

Scher won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.59 and the 100-yard freestyle in 52.75. Royer took the gold in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.01 and the 100-yard back-stroke in 1:07.19. Ruschhaupt placed first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.02, and also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.73.

Scher, Royer and Ruschhaupt, along with senior Shaun Marion were on the winning 200-yard medley relay team, with a time of 1:47.18. The Scher-Royer-Ruschhaupt combo, together with junior Carlos Hernandez, also proved to be successful as Huntington won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:51.08.

The Viking team of Hernandez, juniors Phillip Zook and Taylor Mortorff and sophomore Ethan Hethcote won the 400-yard free relay in 4:31.61.

In another Huntington North win on the day, Marion took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.86.

South Side won diving, as no Huntington North team members participated in that event.
