Otters compete in PRO Superstar Invitational recently

The Huntington-Wells Otters competed in the PRO Superstar Invitational at Penn High School in Mishawaka on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8.

The meet followed a "swim your age" format, rather than the traditional age groups. Relay races were comprised of swimmers from the Otter's PRO partnership with Penn.

Walker Copeland placed fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly in the 9-year-old male division.

Also in the 9-year-old male division, Corbin Cozad placed second in the 100-yard butter-fly; third in the 50-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle; and fifth in the 200-yard individ-ual medley, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

In the 11-year-old female division, Maggie Warpup placed fourth in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 50-yard butterfly.

In the 12-year-old male division, Walter Hacker took third in the 100-yard butterfly and the 50-yard butterfly, and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle. Hacker also was part of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay team, and the first-place 200-yard medley relay team, in the 11-12-year-old male division.

Karlie Thomas took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in the 13-year-old female division. She also was part of the second-place 200-yard medley relay in the 13-and-over female division.

In the 15-and-over female division, Logan Brink placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.15, second in the 100-yard breaststroke, third in the 100-yard butterfly, fourth in both the 100-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard individual med-ley. Brink also helped her relay team take first in the 200-yard freestyle relayin the 13-and-over female division.

In other 15-and-over individual female action, Kimberlee Bussey took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Stephanie Bussey took first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.51, and took first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:37.96. Stephanie Bussey also was a member of the second-place 200-yard medley relay team in the 13-and-over female division.

Dani Thomas placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke and third in the 100-yard breast-stroke. Along with Karlie Thomas and Stephanie Bussey, she was a member of the sec-ond-place 200-yard medley relay team in the 13-and-over female division.

In the 15-and-over male division, Skyler Ruschhaupt took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.40; second in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke, 50-yard free-style and 200-yard breaststroke; third in the 100-yard backstroke; fourth in the 200-yard backstroke; and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Ruschhaupt also was part of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay team in the 13-and-over male division and the first-place 200-yard medley relay in the same division, finishing in 1:44.61.

Dan Scher took first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.68. Scher also was part of the first-place 200-yard freestyle medley relay and 200-yard medley relay teams along with Ruschhaupt.

Hunter Copland and Sam Walburn were part of the second place relay teams in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley. Neither participated in individual competitions.
