Lady Vike netgirls back to .500 with loss to Muncie Central

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team ended up on the wrong side of a three-set clash at second doubles and fell to host Muncie Central, 2-3, on Saturday, May 10.
Senior Alisha Leffler and sophomore Sarah Fryman kicked off their No. 2 doubles match with a 6-4 victory, but couldn't sustain the momentum, dropping the next two sets, 1-6, 4-6.
The Lady Vikings fall even on the year at 6-6.
Junior Ana Eckert and sophomore Emily Karst flipped the script at first doubles. The duo started out with a 4-6 loss, but then rebounded to record 6-4, 6-0 wins.
Junior Kylie Frederick supplied Huntington North's other victory, dispatching her first singles opponent, 6-0, 6-3.
Frederick's teammates weren't so lucky, with senior Casey Richman suffering a 2-6, 0-6 defeat at No. 2 singles and junior Emily Eherenman losing the third match, 0-6, 3-6.
The Lady Viking junior varsity was also defeated, 3-5.
Seniors Michaela Cook and Laresa Lund triumphed in their doubles match, 6-3, as did junior Maddie Phillips and freshman Haley Hart in theirs, 6-2. Senior Katie Hunt outlasted her singles opponent, 6-5, to produce the third and final win for Huntington North, 6-6.
