Doubles win help HNHS netgirls down Richmond

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team swept doubles play to log a 3-2 win over visiting Richmond on Friday, May 9.

Junior Ana Eckert and sophomore Emily Karst went three sets with Kaitlyn Harrison and Cami Jones at first doubles, emerging with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory for the Lady Vikings, 6-5. In the second match, senior Alisha Leffler and sophomore Sarah Fryman recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win over Krissy Kramer and Emma Lay.

Junior Emily Eherenman dispatched Kaitlin Kramer at third singles, 7-5, 6-3, to round out Huntington North's wins.

At first singles, junior Kylie Frederick was downed by Peyton Young, 1-6, 3-6, while senior Casey Richman suffered a 2-6, 0-6 setback to Rei Tsuyuki at second singles.

The Lady Vikings' junior varsity squad lost, 0-2.

Senior Jessica Onate was edged by Maia Van Buskirk, 6-8, and seniors Michaela Cook and Laresa Lund fell to Kayla Owens and Angela Roggero, 5-8.

Huntington North drops to 6-5.
