Frederick's shutout win helps Lady Vikes down Kokomo

Kylie Frederick's shutout win at first singles helped the Huntington North High School varsity tennis team down visiting Kokomo, 4-1 on Thursday, May 8.

Frederick didn't lose a set as she stunned Amanda Tran, 6-0, 6-0 to help the Lady Vikings come back to the .500 mark at 5-5.

Casey Richman at second singles wasn't too far off the shutout mark as she defeated Regina del Bosque, 6-0, 6-2, and Emily Eherenman at third singles took a 6-2, 6-2 win over Emily Morita.

The second doubles team of Sarah Fryman and Alisha Leffler got the remaining HNHS win, earning a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Rachel Stout and Sunnih Flores.

The lone blemish on the day for HNHS was the loss suffered by the first doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst, which fell to Stephanie Bailey and AnneMarie Balsbaugh, 5-7, 3-6.

The Lady Vikings only won one of eighth junior varsity matches. The doubles team of Michaela Cook and Kristen Dyson logged an 8-3 win over Brittny Balog and Alex Anderson.
