Hohlbein stifles Grace as HU splits doubleheader

Blake Holhbein pitched one-run ball for six innings to lead the Huntington University baseball team past visiting Grace College in the second game of a doubleheader for a split on Tuesday, April 29, losing 7-4 and winning 6-1.
Hohlbein scattered five hits, struck out four and walked two as Huntington improved to 26-22 on the year, 20-14 in Crossroads League action.
Marc Bowers and Blake Ayers led the HU offense, each getting two hits and a pair of runs batted in to support Holbein. Dylan Henricks and Brock Gower also had two hits as HU had 12 for the contest.
Tyson Dietrich closed out the contest with an inning of scoreless relief.
The Foresters got a run in the second inning, two more in the fourth, a solo tally in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
Grace held a 3-1 lead after five innings of the opener, then tacked on four more runs in the sixth inning. HU came back with a three-spot in its half of the sixth, but could score no more after that.
Bowers and Shea Beauchamp each had two hits among the 11 earned by HU.
HU starter Brock Gower took the loss, throwing the first 5.1 innings and yielding seven earned runs on eight hits, with four strikeouts and no walks.
