Foster wins three, Stoffel two but CC shades HN trackgirls

Lindsey Foster won three events and Hannah Stoffel took two but the Huntington North High School girls' varsity track team fell to host Columbia City by one point, 64-63, on Thursday, April 24.

Foster, a senior, topped the field in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, in 1:01.4 and the long jump, at 17-1; and she and Stoffel were also part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team. Stoffel, a sophomore, won the 800 and 1,600-meter runs, taking the shorter in 2:27 and the longer in 5:23.1.

Emily Bucher added a win in the 100-meter dash, and she and Abbey Ness joined with Foster and Stoffel for the relay win, in 4:23.11.

The Lady Vikes also got a track win from their 3,200-meter relay team of Stephanie McElhaney, Marissa Jamison, Taryn Doering and Cadee Harmon.

Besides Foster in the long jump, HNHS also got field events wins from Maddie Klender in the shot put, with a throw of 36-8.75, and Paige Coolman in the discus, with a heave of 106-1.

The Lady Vikes swept the shot as Coolman got second and Lauren Sands added third.

McElhaney was runner-up in the 3,200-meeter run, Allie Christian was second in the 100-meter hurdles and Molly Parker was runner-up in the high jump.

Alexa Shoemaker added third in the 100 hurdles.
