Butler slam ends Lady Vikes' rout of Whitko

Morgan Butler closed the game out with a grand slam home run as the Huntington North High School varsity softball team defeated host Whitko, 13-1, in five innings on Tuesday, April 22.
Mikayla Gray was the beneficiary of the Lady Vikings smashing a trio of homers, hurling all five innings and giving up only two hits, with five strikeouts.
Natasha Grover and Erin Rethlake had the other two bombs for Huntington North, 6-1. They did it back-to-back in the second inning as HNHS turned a 3-1 lead into a 5-1 lead.
The Lady Vikings tallied once more in the third inning, then plated seventh in the fifth to end the contest.
Grover had two of the Lady Vikings' seven hits on the afternoon. Tori Newsome followed Butler's four runs batted in with two of her own.
The Huntington North junior varsity team upped its record to 6-0 with with a 13-3 win over visiting Norwell on Tuesday, April 22.
Jordyn Poulson led the hit parade for HNHS with three hits, and Abby Kindler, Aubrie Eckert and Mackenzi Cannici each had a pair. Kindler and Cannici both had triples among their pair of hits, and Eckert smacked a pair of doubles.
Hannah Middlebrooks was the winning pitcher, giving up eight hits and striking out nine in five innings.
