Rethlake pitches pair of shutouts and Lady Vikes win 3 in tourney

Erin Rethlake pitched a pair of shutouts and the Huntington North High School varsity softball team won all three games it played in the Ballard Tournament in Ballard, KY, this past weekend.
With Rethlake throwing five innings of shutout ball, the Lady Vikings beat Westerville, OH, 8-0, on Friday, April 18. They then topped Glen Este, of Ohio, 3-0, in five innings behind Rethlake, and on Saturday took a 4-3 win in five innings over Keystone, of Ohio, to earn Mikayla Gray the mound win and improve their season mark to 4-1.
Rethlake struck out 11 and gave up only one hit in the Lady Vikes' first game, and she also hit a triple and knocked in two runs. Kaylynn Rosen smacked a home run and had two RBI, and Tori Newsome also unloaded a dinger.
Maddie Kennedy chipped with two doubles, an RBI and a stolen base.
Rethlake had 12 strikeouts and gave up only three hits in the second game win.
Kennedy had a single and her third double of the tourney to lead the offensive attack, which also got a triple and RBI from Alexa Hill.
Gray started the third game and pitched three scoreless innings, yielding two hits with three strikeouts. Rethlake pitched the final two innings and gave up the three Keystone runs, although none were earned, with two strikeouts and only one hit.
Rosen led the offense with a pair of hits, and Hill added a double.
