Stoffel win helps HNHS girls to runner-up at Marion Relays

Hannah Stoffel won the 3,200-meter run to help lead the Huntington North High School girls' track team to second place at the Marion Relays on Saturday, April 19.
Stoffel, a sophomore, crossed the finish line in 12:14.53 to win the event by more than 15 seconds and lead the Lady Vikes to the runner-up total of 90 points.
South Bend Adams won the meet with 105.5 points.
The Vikings also got two relays wins, thanks to its 4,000-meter distance medley squad, which clocked in at 13:15.6, and the 3,200-meter relay team, which clocked in at 10:29.05.
Lindsey Foster, Marissa Jamison and Maddie Klender each got runner-up slots for HNHS. Foster got hers with a leap of 17-0.75 in the long jump, Jamison got hers with a clocking of 5:44.51 in the 1,600-meter run and Klender threw the shot 37-8 for the shot put runner-up spot.
Emily Bucher took sixth in the long jump at 14-8 to make it the best scoring event for HNHS.
The Lady Vikings also had two scorers in the 100-meter hurdles, the shot put and the discus.
In the hurdles, Josie Graft and Allie Christian went fifth and sixth, respectively, in :17.40 and :17.68. Klender was backed up by Paige Coolman's seventh in the shot with a throw of 33-10 and Coolman and Klender took fifth and eighth, respectively, in discus with throws of 96-10 and 88-5.
HNHS also got fifth place points from Alexa Shoemaker in pole vault, at 6-0, and Jami Feller got sixth in the high jump at a height of 4-8.
The Lady Vikes also got fourth in the 1,600-meter relay, fifth in the 800-meter sprint medley relay and sixth in the 400-meter relay.
